FLASHBUILDER PHOTO ALBUM

Learn how to build your online Photo Album powered by FlashBuilder

Add your own Pictures
Add your own Descriptions
Add your own Gallery Thumbnails

The PhotoAlbum program is located at your
Free Host Space, in a folder called album. The Photo Album has 7 different galleries where you can upload unlimited pictures to share with your friends. The only limit is your 10Mb free host space awarded to you as a ProMember

Photo Images: First of all you need to upload your own pictures to your album. We suggest you to resize them to a standard size like shown above, about 400x300 pixels (width x high) to fit your album. Each gallery is located inside the album folder as gal_1, gal_2....gal_7 folders. You need to upload your photos to the desired gallery where you want your pictures to be displayed. The Photo Album program will automatically embed these images into your gallery.

Photo Description: Each gal_1, gal_2...gal_7 folder has a unique descr.txt file where the photo description is stored. To add a description to each picture you need to create or edit the descr.txt file (using wordpad or similar) and save it as descr.txt, then upload it to the choosen gallery. Below is a sample descr.txt file you can use to create yours:

01 Image 1 Description goes here.....
02 Image 2 Description goes here.....
03 Image 3 Description goes here.....
04 Image 4 Description goes here.....
05 Image 5 Description goes here.....
06 Image 6 Description goes here.....
07 Image 7 Description goes here.....
08 Image 8 Description goes here.....

Just copy & paste the text above in your wordpad, change each description and save it as descr.txt. Then upload this text file to your Gallery folder where your photos are located. (this file must be called descr.txt or it will not work). The first 2 digits for each line must be 01, 02, and so on, in view they are needed to point to your picture.

Gallery Thumbnails: Inside the album folder, a gall_thumb folder exists. This folder contains the 80x60 pixel images shown as the Gallery Thumbnails. You can upload your own pictures here too, just resize them to 80x60 and upload them as 1.jpg, 2.jpg, .....,7.jpg . The Photo Album program will automatically generate the black&white thumbnail shown as default that will turn  in full color on mouse over.

Gallery Description: In the same way as the Photo Description, a text file called gallery.txt located in the gall_thumb exists. This text file contains the 7 description to be shown below the gallery thumbnails. A sample is:

1 Gallery 1 Title
2 Gallery 2 Title
3 Gallery 3 Title
4 Gallery 4 Title
5 Gallery 5 Title
6 Gallery 6 Title
7 Gallery 7 Title

Just copy & paste the 7 lines above to your wordpad, edit the gallery description for each thumbnail, save as gallery.txt and upload it to your gall_thumb folder (The first digit for each line must be: 1, 2 ,3 ...7). You are done

Large Pictures: On every gal_1 to gal_7 folder you will find a folder called large. You can upload a second larger picture here to be shown when a photo is clicked. As an example, imagine you have a picture called myfamily.jpg located at gal_1 with a 400x300 size that is shown in your 1st gallery. But you want to have a larger picture too, say 800x600 pixels that is shown when the first is clicked. So you must upload this 800x600 picture to the large directory inside the gal_1 folder, so when the myfamily.jpg image is clicked in the album it will launch a new page showing your large picture (800x600) as well. The only requirement is that the large picture must have the same name and extension as the shorter one, meaning you will have a myfamily.jpg image located at gal_1 (400x300) and a myfamily.jpg image located at the large directory (800x600)

Enjoy Photo Album !!
