IP Blocking
Find out more about IP blocking, why it can be so useful and when to use it.
If you see a major increase in the online traffic to your Internet site and in case after you look at the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from places around the world or from other servers, your site is most likely being attacked by an automatic bot. Such programs go through random websites aiming to log in to their administration area by using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments under any sort of article where this sort of an option is offered. Regrettably, that is something rather popular these days, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you may block them, so the bots shall not be able to access your Internet site in any way. Obviously, you may block IPs even if you allow only people from specific countries to access your website.

IP Blocking in Shared Web Hosting
If you have a
shared web hosting account with our company and you would like to block one or several IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, which is included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Through a pretty simple interface, you'll be able to restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to complete that is to log in to your CP, to check out the IP Blocking section, to select a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You won't need to do anything complicated if you want to block an entire network - you will just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed in the same section, so you'll be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with a mouse click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our
semi-dedicated servers, will enable you to solve the problem with unwanted traffic very efficiently. It incorporates an IP blocking tool where you can add IP addresses with only a couple of clicks. All domains and subdomains you have inside the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you only have to choose the one you need and then input the IP address that should be blocked. If you wish to block an entire range, a C-class network for example, you just need to input the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. This will block all 254 addresses, so you shall not have to enter them by hand. Because all the IPs you add in this section shall be listed, you can effortlessly unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button relevant to the given IP.
